Project Description
This full metal roof replacement in Caledon East, Ontario involved a complete replacement of an aging cedar roofing system on a large residential property.
The original cedar shakes were fully removed to expose the roof deck. Due to the condition of the existing structure, sections of damaged plywood were identified and replaced to ensure a solid and reliable base for the new roofing system.
Once the deck was properly restored, a high-quality waterproof membrane was installed across the entire roof surface. This layer provides additional protection against moisture infiltration and enhances the overall durability of the system.
To ensure proper ventilation and long-term performance, a full wood strapping system was installed. This creates a continuous airflow gap between the roof deck and the metal panels, helping to:
- reduce condensation buildup
- improve airflow under the roof
- extend the lifespan of both the structure and the roofing material
Additionally, the roof ridge was opened to improve attic ventilation, allowing warm, moist air to escape naturally from the highest point of the roof. A protective mesh barrier was installed along the ridge to prevent squirrels and other small animals from entering the attic while maintaining uninterrupted airflow.
The roof was completed using metal tile panels manufactured with advanced zinc-magnesium coating technology. This type of steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to traditional galvanized metal, making it especially suitable for Ontario’s climate conditions.
The selected profile delivers a clean, structured appearance while maintaining the strength and reliability expected from modern metal roofing systems.
This project demonstrates a full-scope roofing upgrade — from complete removal of outdated cedar materials to the installation of a high-performance, ventilated metal roofing system built for longevity, protection, and aesthetics.
